Design, plan and implement new database programs; make enhancements to existing systems
Full life-cycle development including: requirements analysis; specification and implementation of code, UI, data structures, schema, APIs; collaborative development, documentation and test; participation in acceptance testing; live system maintenance, refactoring and optimization
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Provides reliable estimates and manages time and resources to meet objectives with minimal supervision
Experience with administering and developing Microsoft SQL Server databases
Experience with Windows Server 2003
Strong SQL programming skills, including experience with complex query design, stored procedures, views and functions
Must have an understanding of concurrency related issues and be able to diagnose and prevent them
Must have an understanding of security related issues and be able to diagnose and prevent them
Experience optimizing database schemas to meet project requirements
Experience maintaining a production database, including managing and deploying updates
Must be comfortable with assuming responsibility for the operation and development of the database for two released products
Dedication to secure, robust development and design with on-time delivery
Coaches less-experienced programmers and internal users
Team player with sustained positive and professional attitude
Authorized to work in the United States
Works full time on-premises at our location in San Francisco, California
Able to communicate effectively with the development team both in written and in spoken English
A four-year degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and four years of experience with relational database management systems
Previous MMOG, multiplayer game, or distributed simulation development experience
Proficient with: Subversion, Visual Studio, MS Office, MS Project; Win32 API; OOA / OOD / OOP; fault-tolerant architectures
